Five new helpers for the thw in kronach
Rough day for 22 new THW helpers from the hof regional area: they had completed their basic training in recent months with great commitment. Recently, they took their final exam in kronach to obtain the authorization to operate the vehicle. Candidates from the local associations of kulmbach, naila, selb, marktredwitz, bayreuth and fortunately also five candidates from kronach passed their examinations with very good results.
Basic training is the first stage of training in the technical relief organization. Only then are the emergency personnel assigned to the units and specialist groups for further specialization.
The first step for the volunteers was a written test. 40 questions on eleven different topics had to be answered in a multiple-choice procedure.
Afterwards, the participants got down to business with 24 practical tasks to be completed at seven stations. These included making stitches and bandages, assembling ladders, erecting ladders and securing ladders, tying up an injured person on a stretcher for transport, working with shears and spreaders, starting up a submersible pump and laying hose bridges, starting up a grab hoist and pulling a truck as well as woodworking, etc. All the trainees were very disciplined and ready for action. The prufer and the functional personnel were provided by the local associations.
Examiner markus wanninger was pleased to present certificates to all five candidates from the kronach local association – angelina merz, denis merz, jonas hofacker, nico kremer and max dittmann – and to congratulate them on passing their final examinations. "It is anything but self-evident and worthy of all honor to spend one's free time helping other people," emphasized the training officer, he praised the newly qualified helpers. The basic training was the foundation for the work in the THW and guaranteed a nationwide applicability of all task forces. Although they have now mastered the basics, the "real" music begins learning in the respective specialist groups first: "it is a learning without end!"
The training started at the end of september 2018. To take the exam, the trainees had to attend various seminars, such as a one-day radio training course or a one-day CBRN seminar. CBRN refers to hazards from the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear fields, first aid seminars, etc., in the event of an emergency.
Various exercises are also part of the training for the best possible preparation for the mission. "This requires not only professional qualities, but also team spirit, mutual help and support, reliability and the development of cohesion", emphasized the training officer of the THW local association in kronach, frank schuberth, who spent most of his time looking after the new helpers.
The successful examination was then celebrated together with the helpers.
The next basic training course starts in the fall of 2019. Interested people are welcome to inform themselves every tuesday between 7 pm and 10 pm with frank schuberth at the THW-ortsverband im eichicht in kronach.
Under the motto "learning to help by playing" girls and boys between the ages of ten and 18 can become members of the THW youth.
